Hello, I purchased 50 Cornish X rooster chicks on May 8th. They are all seemingly healthy and growing like crazy. My elevator recommended Purina Flock Raiser so that is what they are eating now. They don't seem to have a "feeling full" button and appear to be non stop eaters. I'm wondering what folks are feeding theirs and what is the appropriate amount to feed them? I would like to avoid the proverbial overweight, lethargic bird that can't walk syndrome if at all possible. At this point, these little guys are still pretty active and jump up on their little perches and are trying to fly. Also, at what point do I start adding grit and should I move them to a different feed as they get older? If so, any recommendations on brand/recipe?

Thanks,
Jackie, Farmer 123

I do flock raiser/game bird feed for about 5 weeks and then cut back to a 15% ration or a grower and add enough grain to counter the higher protein.
If feeding only chicken feed there is no need for grit as the grains contained are already ground.
