feeding dried beans

I am new to the site and to chickens. I read on here that you should not feed dried beans to your chickens.
But somewhere else I read to add split peas and lentils to their feed. Is this ok are they not considered beans
for some reason. Let me know. I mix up some of my own food from work. I work at a food coop and we sell a
bunch of stuff in bulk and organic. I dont want to hurt my chickens.

I have read on byc that lentils are ok without cooking but haven't tried it and cannot find a page on them elsewhere on internet right now....

Other threads on byc mention cooking lentils....

I do feed raw split peas without problems.

The feed I get has both lentils and split peas in it as well as soyabeans lupine and beans and I have had no problems

I assume your soybeans are roasted.

I would guess so, the company that makes it has been making feed for poultry for a while now.

Any type of pea can be fed w/out cooking. Nearly all soybean sold for feed purposes is roasted, therefore cooked. I'd not feed beans that haven't been cooked in some way. Clarifying what the links say anyway. Read up.
