feeding dried corn on the cob OK?

I have dried corn on the cob that I use to feed squirrels... comes packaged from the bird feed place I go to.
Is this OK to give to the ladies?

mine didn't seem to like it much. They will pick it up and throw it down. The silver king corn we had for dinner one night we threw the used cobs out to the girls and they went nuts for it. I even bought a couple just for them. I don't know if its the best thing for them but they seem to go crazy for people corn. The only other things I've seen them just as nutty over is when one finds a worm.

Have never tried the dried, and I don't know if the big dry kernels would cause crop problems or not. I give mine the fresh during summer months, and they love it.

I bought some of the dried on the cob thinking it would be great entertainment - no takers. They will eat cracked corn and love fresh corn on the cob, but the big dry kernels just don't interest them at all.

Maybe if you rehydrate it in some hot water they'll go for it.

Field/dent corn used for feeding animals is not going to get any softer if you soak it. It will just mold. That corn is rock hard coming out of the field and not actually dried extra before being packaged. Mine had no trouble eating field corn off the cob the one year I left some in the coop but it's definitely not as enticing as most other food sources.
