Hey y’all
I Just ran to the feed store and bought some chick grit. I planned on buying some live mealworms too as treats for my chicks. However, they only had dried mealworms. The bags came in three different sizes. I checked the backs and they all had exactly the same ingredients and nutrition. When I checked on the back though on the smallest bag it says for wild birds only and on the largest one it says for chicks as well as wild. The feed and supply store worker said it was just a marketing thing. Just wanted to check in with you guys if you thinks it fine to feed them to the little guys? I’ll send pics of the ingreadents and bag in case that’ll help. Oh, and how much grit should I give them? I have three two week old GLWs and four one week old BOs. Thanks so much and God Bless!

I think it's fine, dried mealworms are all pretty much the same. With the chick grit you can just sprinkle a little on their food, or in a small dish on the side.
Thanks so much for the quick response! Should I give them the grit first and wait awhile or can I just put them in at the same time?

You may want to check on Amazon, there's several different suppliers and prices....5# $29.99 :celebrate Happy Hens 5# $35.58

It's the best training tool with chicks. When they're about a month old I start, squishing some in my hands to get them used to my hand. I put some in a plastic sour cream container, shake it and they learn the sound. Makes it really easy to round them up or have them come to lock up.

Feed the chick grit in a separate container, they'll eat as they need.

Thanks for the response! I’ll check on amazon for them. That’s one of the reasons I bought them so they don’t panic when I change there feed and water.

I use that same exact bag for my chickens. They love them! It’s only a treat thing though. I have a little mealworm farm too, and I think my chickens prefer the dried ones.
Gave them some they would come up and grab them out of my hand! :) I don’t think they quite understand they're food yet though. Haha! Thanks so much for the response!

It takes my chicks a little while to figure out what’s edible lol. I had quail who would fly to me for them though, and they ate them from a young age.

I think they don’t east them as readily as chicks cause they look like toes, and they know toes aren’t edible. (My quail were bad toe biters when I gave them the worms lol)

Wow i hadn't thought about the toes. Haha! I'm thinking some live mealworms to get them interested.
