Feeding dry buckwheat

Hi can anyone help me someone as given me dry buckwheat it came from there mattress and said that i could feed it to my chickens but wasn't to sure... they pretty good they do eat most things but this is a new one on me.. thanks any help appreciated

Im not sure, the person I got it from said it new I thought it was a little strange but there is actually buckwheat in the mattress thay use it for pain problems

I can't imagine buckwheat in a mattress (I've heard of it in pillows, not mattress) is any good to eat... even if it's food grade you don't know how long it's been sitting in there.

Yeah I thought the same but yeah they do do mattresses a very uncomfortable thing it is..... thanks for replying
