I have been reading posts that say some of you are going through 50# of feed a week. My last 25# bag lasted over 4 weeks. My four girls are only 8+ weeks old. I have the food in their run 24 hours a day and they always have access to it even for a midnight snack if they want. I give treats (night-crawlers, broccolli, rice, ground up meats etc.) They don't seem underfed, but I wanted to make sure. I need to go to the feed store tomorrow and pick up a 50# bag, and that should get me through till I need to get the next type of food. Thanks for any guidance you can give me on this.

Well... see, you have 4 two month old birds. Thoes of us going through 50+ a week have ALOT more chickens than 4. Some have hundreds of birds... I myself have 34 or so I think... That would eat alot more than your 4 would.

Sounds llike your chicks get plenty of food. If they have access to food at all times they should be well fed. I don't see mine eat a lot , especially the Roo, but they don't look hungry so I reckon they eat. I leave food out and give mine treats several times a day and they free range some. I only have three bantams and I probably only use 10# of feed a month.

I go through 100 lbs. a week but I've also got 51 birds and none of them are bantams. It all just depends on the number of chickens and the size of them. Sounds like you are doing right by them. Keep up the good work.
