I feed them all our meat/fat leftovers. We generally roast the entire chicken/duck/goose, and we give the chickens the leftover cooked carcass. They literally take it down to bare bone overnight (if that long). This past Fall I just threw away my deer carcass, but wanted to kick myself when I saw a neighbor throw his to his chickens. In the middle of winter I throw pig lard (which we get for free) into the scrap-food bucket.
My girls laid fairly well all winter long. I'll probably not feed much lard in the warmer months.
