Feeding fruit as treats

I have alot of extra pears and plums from the fruit trees in my yard. Is it ok to feed the chickens this , should I be careful how much fruit I feed them?

I give them whatever I've got. If they don't eat it the flies will and then they will be eating the larva. Win win either way.

How true. I wonder though, will a chicken ever eat too much of something? Mine seem to want to switch to something else after they've had a certain amount of a given substance. I've even seen them have their fill of PASTA! Anybody else have thoughts on this?
