Hi - Just got 3 delightful hens last month and am in learning process. How often do you feed greens and what do you find they like best -- thnx

Welcome to the Backyard chickens flock. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Welcome to BYC!

I pretty much follow the treat chart @Kelsie2290 has provided you a link with. One thing to keep in mind if you're free ranging them, don't let them get into anything that has been treated with a chemical (like weed killer).

Good luck to you with your new flock and have fun!

Glad you decided to join!

Many people disagree on this, but (IMHO) you can't really feed to many greens. I raise my chickens on pasture (which is currently about 2 feet long) so my girls are eating LOTS of grass and clover, and are all healthy and laying very well, so I wouldn't be concerned.

Enjoy your birds!

well, unfortunately I have no pasture --live in Napa, CA and corner of back garden is where I put girls, so I need to give them greens --but how often?
And Idon't want them running loose in my garden area after I put temporary fence around one above ground box and they devastated it- but w/drought, we're gonna leave it fallow now.

thnx, I'm organic gardener and my tenant keeps reminding me about it - so we try to deal w/pesty insects w/o anything toxic
however, I have large ivy patch against back fence I'd like to spray but w/end up chopping it out instead
