Feeding hens and chicks

It's OK to switch to egg layer for all of them. It won't effect your chicks at all.

To be truthful feeding layer (high calcium) feed to ANY non laying bird can have a bad effect on them.

What?! If you have roaster and laying hens together how would you keep them eating separately

Feed everyone a low calcium feed and supplement with oyster shells in a separate feeder.
Examples of a low calcium feed would be; unmedicated chick starter, grower, breeder, all flock, a feed designed for roosters and some game fowl feeds.
