I have a baby about a week old with her momma. She had been getting severely picked in by the other hens ( as in drug around by the neck at breakfast) and accidentally got stepped on by the dog yesterday. Poor thing is in rough shape but momma is keeping her in fairly good spirits. She doesnt seem to be able to walk much but occasionally gives some effort. I know that she is better off with momma than me right now, so I have moved them to a private space. My concern is that the baby wont get much to eat or drink and fail due to that. I tried giving her a bit of vitamins in water this morning but her teeny beak.... any suggestions for getting sustenance into the pipsqueak?

Poor baby! Do you have the chick feed right there with them? Scatter some on the floor too, next to her, and have the waterer close. Warm water with the feed mixed in might help, or with applesauce, to make it easier to eat. If you drip liquids on her beak she may swallow some, don't try to force feed this little one.
If she really can't eat or drink, she may have internal injuries, not good.
Good luck!
Mary
