Feeding layer feed

Hello I have 5 ducks four are females and I’m not quite sure how to feed them when it comes time for them to lay. Which could be any day now... I heard you but layer feed because it will have the extra calcium needed however I’m a bit confused how that works with the male because they all will be eating the same... how do I feed him regular food separate from there layer food? Suggestions?

They will instinctively eat it if/when they need it.

Sour land is right. The girls will take the oyster shells when needed. Mine go through quite a lot.

Yes oyster shell on the side is the way to go. The girls will instinctively know to eat it.

Males know not to take it. They instinctively stay away from the oyster shell.

Our girls also really like eggshells, so we feed those back to them. Otherwise we use the Mazuri Waterfowl Maintenance feed with free choice oyster shells.
