Feeding Mealworms

What do you feed your mealworms?

ground up dogfood, oats, chicken feed, carrots, potatoes.

I feed mine barley from the feed store and they drink from carrots most of the time, sometimes an over ripe apple or cucumber.

You can even use unmedicated chick feed or layer crumbles! Seriously!

I use whatever chicken crumbles I have on hand. Also apples, potatoes and carrots.

What? Feed your mealworms? I feed my mealworms to my chicks. Er, did you mean actually feed your mealworms? Oh dear. Do I need to start raising mealworms too?

What do you do if they get sick? Do you take them to your vet?

"Doc, it's my mealworm Jack ... I dunno.. he's not himself... I can't describe it exactly... he just seems to be off. He's just off. Can you do somethin' for him Doc?"

Whole oats, like horse feed, or must it be oatmeal? Ditto the barley (next post); can it be whole barley?
