feeding meat scraps to chickens

Hello and greetings from Kentucky! There really is no reason why you shouldn't feed chickens raw meat. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as the meat is fresh! The chickens need to be able to consume it in one feeding with none left over.

x2 Chickens are omnivores and scavengers and will likely eat raw meat whether you provide it or not. Mine catch and eat mice and swallow them whole. Protein is great for them. As someone else pointed out, commercial ground meat is problematic for all living things really, but fresh or very well kept non ground meat (or meat you ground yourself) raw or cook I would think would be fine. I mostly give table scraps so they are cooked but I have thrown them chunks of raw beef. They LOVED it.

I would and have fed my chickens chicken. You never want to feed an animal the brain or spinal tissue of its own species but there is no problem with muscle. They are not going to know or care what it is.
