Hello. We have an old boar we need to dispatch. I know chickens can eat meat but I want to know if anyone has tried feeding Male hogs and found that 'boar taint' got into eggs.

There used to be here and in other places I believe fish based chicken feed. Using fish as a base is an easy way to get the essential amino acids in the feed.
I got asked on this forum if the eggs tasted of fish; they didn't.;)
I occasionally feed the chickens here meat and I've never noticed the eggs tasting of meat either.
Maybe if a chicken was fed completely on a meat diet there may be a change in the taste of the eggs. I've never read of an experiment that confirmed this.
Free range chickens eat all sorts of things and I've never heard of anyone saying they could taste the contents of say their compost heap in the eggs.
I think, provided you give them their properly balanced feed as their main food source you won't notice any hog flavoring in your eggs.

Some people have reported that their eggs were tainted by fishmeal so you may just have to try it and see. As others have said, the proportion you feed each day may well make a difference as to whether the boar taste comes through. You can always stop if it does taint the eggs or reduce the amount you give them.

The boar hog taint is caused by a different mixture of compounds compared to marine fish products. Even so I think it carries over much the same. I can smell family that has been eating a lot of boar hog meat and do not like it.

Some meat in a chicken's diet is a good thing. The one thing I'm not sure about is the boar taint. Agree a small scale test is probably your best bet.

Aren't there way too many wild boar in the Southeast? I wonder if maybe the answer is feeding them to chickens. I'm picturing widespread hunting, a big wood chipper, and a LOT of chickens....
