Thank you. And he's so far very nice too. He'll change when the hormones really get flowing but I've learned a lot from blondie in the video. We'll all figure things out fine I think.STUNNING.
Yep, the Purina Medicated Start and Grow, first 10weeks, then Nutrena Starter Grower or Flock Raiser Crumbles, what I feed my Chickens.I fed medicated crumble through 8 weeks (Purina...20%?) then switched to non-medicated crumbles. I feed Nutrena (from TSC) Starter/Grower with 18% protein. I had begun to switch the girls over to Nutrena Layer at 16% but have since run into an issue with that due to new age differences in my flock. I put out free choice oyster shell when the oldest girls hit 18 weeks and began approaching POL.
I fed my first Flock of Golden Comets a 18% layers feed after point of lay till around 13 months. I switched to a 16% layers feed and after awhile 3 of 5 started to feather pick.I've seen a layer feed or 2 with 18% protein, so I've always wondered why commercial feed guidelines say to drop your layers down to 16% - it does seem like they're getting the bare minimum, but I haven't heard the why yet!
Sounds like what I'm going to end up doing too...thank you!Yep, the Purina Medicated Start and Grow, first 10weeks, then Nutrena Starter Grower or Flock Raiser Crumbles, what I feed my Chickens.
When I only had 3 hens I would buy the Non-Medicated Purina Start and Grow, because I could get a smaller 25# bag at TSC. These are the feeds I buy after 10 weeks old and feed throughout Adulthood. View attachment 1880476. GC
