My feed store was out of chick starter and turkey starter, so they recommended Gamebird Crumbles for the few days until the truck delivers the other food. It has 26% protein.

I came across your post as I was looking for an answer to a similar question. I have 12 week olds with adults and a momma hen who is just now introducing her 5 week olds to the flock as well. I wanted to post you a link to what i found but my husban's computer isn't cooperating. So just do a search on gamebird crumbles or pellts and you should get the same info I did. Hopefully, it will help you. My problem is that my layers still need their calcium but the other littler ones don't, so I still have a conflict because I do not have a seperate pen...hope this will help you find your answer though.....GodBless

I'm in a similar situations, my 8 week olds are determined to stay with the flock (meaning they keep escaping from their area) and Mama has already sent them packing. All of my girls are on Layena and I know this is too much calcium for the kids. I'm thinking of switching to Flockraiser and having oyster shells for the calcium. I also supplement their diet with fresh fruit, veggies and cottage cheese.
