My Tufted buffs are growing like ,well-geese!
while we are frantically building a aviary(that has taken on a life of it's own)
They were hatched 4/30 and (though I had geese years ago, there wasn't the info on feeding beyond grain and grass ) They live in the Garage now in a pen, and I take them outside to graze in the dog yard for couple hours a day if it's not RAINING! (only fully fenced area and the dogs get locked indoors during the grazing periods and have to drool thru the windows,
--
I feed flock raiser crumbles with grit and brewers yeast (a bit), 2X a day about 3-3 1/2 cups. (I do find some under the shavings and a muddy layer in the water jug when I clean it 2x daily.
They don't feel too skinny and I don't think too fat .(I carry them daily to the dog yard)--but the goose book says only feed once a day for 5 minutes.
They usually clean up the feed fairly quick, although occasionally there is a bit left over for a while.
Is this Ok, I don't want to cause angel wing or something. They are probably 2/3 to 3/4 feathered now, wing feathers are about 2" long roughly.
I feed less or they eat less on 'grazing " days (I also handpull grass on stormy days they can't go out and it has been storming for 3 weeks almost daily!)
