Hi there, I have around 15 ducks and some 20 hens and I have owned both species for about 8 years. For our flocks, we keep them in separate housing but let them free range together. For food, we use a combination of wheat and hen's layers pellets. Layer's pellets are made for chickens, but it's duck equivalent costs much more and is pretty much the same, just a different brand and bag! Giving the ducks the chicken's feed has done no harm whatsoever to my ducks and they are happy, healthy and lay well even when aged. We even give it to our goose, who is also happy and healthy! So overall, I recommend going for it and trying it out on your ducks, you can always switch back if something doesn't seem right, which I doubt. It will help save money and time too!
