ETA: Sorry, you keep posting while I'm typing. lol

Yes, you can go ahead and give them plugs of untreated grass, as well as dirt for dust baths.

thanks for the tip on the grass. i see them knocking out the dirt from under it and trying to take a dirt bath. its funny. i didnt think that they knew to do that at only 6 days old.

considering how easy the integration was, i will never wait 16 weeks again to put the new birds in. i kept them separated by 1/2" hardware cloth in a separate house/run for 2 weeks and then put them in the big house. they was not a single fight. im going to do it the same way with these 9 new girls when the time is right.
Good, Good. Just for info---Some of us never integrate----I never mix my young with my old---When my young gets old enough to start laying good----the old are sold----year after year, so I never have 3yr old chickens.

I understand---a lot of people do the same thing. I can have a Pet chicken, but the rest are not pets. I tell my wife to not be smelling the noses of our food----when she is in the rabbit pen with the new babies that will become our food. I have been raising chickens----mercy over 50 years, but seriously in the last 30----I never have to watch them get old and Die----I started doing like I explain many years ago and I just have never changed. In the last 3 or so years I have sold over 10,000 chicks/chickens---I do not allow myself to get attached. But that's me---Always raise yours----your way!!!
