I have six Isa Browns that are about a year old. We have been feeding them Layena (just the regular kind) and I accidentally picked up a bag of Layena Pellets today instead. I'm assuming this will be fine for them, but wanted to check in with you all and be sure. Any input?

Nutritionally they will be fine. But chickens are visual feeders and some people have had trouble getting them to switch to pellets right away.

I feed starter crumbles until 18 weeks and then start mixing in layer pellets. I like pellets because there seems to be less wasted feed.

In your case, with older chickens, they may not eat the pellets, so be prepared to go get crumbles. Try it and see, if they won't eat them get some crumbles and start mixing them.

I like pellets better, less waste. Just keep an eye on them and make sure they all figure out that the pellets are food too. I've read of the rare case where a chook would go off her food when pellets were introduced because she just didn't see the new shape as food. That's rare though and you shouldn't have any problems. In fact you might even decide that this was a happy accident and just buy the pellets from here on out.
