I have 4 chickens that are a year old. They have been eating crumbles from Tractor Supply for a while and because they waste so much of it I decided to get the pellets this time. I never see them eat them and I'm worrying they aren't getting enough layer feed. It's been 3 days now. They Re eating fruits and greens but I know their layer feed is important. My question is, should I wait it out or go back to crumbles? Thanks Sharon

Hi, Sharon - I'm with you, I absolutely hate feeding crumbles due to the waste. I had one pen that took right to the pellets without a problem, but another pen that did not. I ended up using a large pan (like you use to feed horses & large livestock), and put a big dollop of yogurt in the middle, which is one of their favorite treats. Then, I sprinkled the pelleted feed right on top. After that, it was easy to make the transition to the feeder with the pelleted feed rather than crumbles.

Best of luck!

they will eventually get use to them and eat them just fine. my girls weren't to sure about pellets at first but now they eat them fine and actually prefer them now.
