Things you wish you could say

Google maps did NOT know where it was, and I assumed it was kept off of Google maps for security reasons.
This is a fact. Because of the fear that terrorists will poison a water supply, you can no longer find the address of water plants through Google.

I'm not surprised. I know where the military base is now and how to get there. I also know that if I DO show up there, they will take my driver's license, have me circle the guard post, and give it back to me on my way out.

I understand the need for security and am actually glad that some key things are not on the maps.

My house now shows on the satellite maps, but Google street view still shows the empty lot.

Funny, I used to do DoorDash, and sometimes people at the military base would order. Google maps did NOT know where it was, and I assumed it was kept off of Google maps for security reasons.

If you submit the change on Google Maps, you won't hear back, but in a few weeks/months, the change will just happen. I had to add my house to Google maps because it was new construction, and my address kept taking people to the other side of the freeway when the put it in. I did it proactively before the house was actually completed, so I only had one package not make it to my house.
My understanding is that it may have been corrected in core Google but that many apps use prior versions so that practically speaking it can take years before people stop showing up lost.
If I look it up in Google Maps it is usually (not always) correct now.

If you give Google maps permission to use your phone's camera, (I refuse to do so) they will gather the photos for street view and who knows what else.

Google Maps has my driveway labeled as a real road that is a shortcut to somewhere (it isn’t). I sometimes emerge from the chicken coop to someone looking very confused as the driveway ends at the chicken coop!
I submitted a change to Google but never heard back from them.
Put up a sign, maybe.

Similar problem here. We had the biggest Winnebago in the world show up in our driveway one Sabbath morning, thankfully we hadn't left for church yet. If we hadn't stopped them they would have gone down a hill and ended up in a creek. I don't know why their GPS had them turn off the highway. We had a school bus end up here once also. Stupid technoligy. Great when it works right. Pain in the britches when it doesn't.
