Feeding refrigerated grass clippings from the lawn mower

Has anyone ever simply saved the lawn mower's grass clippings and fed them to their chickens? The lawn mower's collection bag gathers bushels and bushels of the stuff every week. I'm thinking I could simply store a few gallons in the fridge and sprinkle it all over the run every day. Any comments, ideas, or advice about this?

Yes, they will love to root around in fresh grass clippings, I wouldn't give them old clippings however.

You may have to use it fairly quickly because of the moisture level. It will sour if left in a closed container.
