Ive recently started feeding my flock red hen chicken food, on the back of the back it says its for helping with egg laying and to lay healthy chick, give bigh fertility rates ect. But i have a rooster in my flock. Is it a good idea to be feeding my rooster food for egg laying, im not to sure how id be able to give him a different food from the hens tho. Theyve been on it for about three weeks but recently ive notisted that my rooster is having black poos , is this because of the food? Should i keep him on it? Im only keeping him for a few more weeks because his crowing is annoying the neighbors so is it worth buying more food for him in this short time?

Thanks xx

He will be fine but if you are really worried switch to an all flock feed starter/grower/layer and offer oyster shell as free choice. I feed an all flock feed since I have mixed ages,my roosters like it.

:welcome and good luck with your poultry adventure! :frow I agree, he's fine. My all of my chickens, ducks, geese, eat layer pellets and scratch grains and they are all doing great.
