I have a flock of 17 week old RIR's and have discovered they love eating leaves from beech trees and leaves from a shrub I believe is named Illiagneus (guessing on the spelling). Around here (Chatham County N.C. )it's called hackberry. The hackberry also produces small berries in the summer and they've had some of these also.

I've not seen any ill effects from feeding these to my birds but was wondering if this was a bad thing.

Thanks

The Hackberry will grow into a medium to large sized tree and birds frequent the berries quite often, so it shouldn't be harmful to your chickens. Nor would beech leaves.
