Feeding

I just got my baby chicks in the mail today. They are doing very well! However, I don't have anyway to feed them from a hanging feeder. Does anyone else sprinkle the food in and let them learn to forage that way?

Feeding in that easy is going to lead to a lot of feed lost to waste and potentially under nourished birds at s time when rapid growth requires the best nutritional support. While a hanging feeder may not work in your setup thete ste lots of other options for feed containment. If you post photos of the brooder we may be able to better understand the challenge you are seeing

My phone died, and I have no other way to upload a photo. There is a stonewall to help hold the heat and I have them in a metal container for brooding.

I tried a shallow dish but the were fighting each other to sit in the food!
