Feeding

Hi there. :frow

I prefer 22% protein chick crumble... but 19% will be fine as long as the nutrients aren't diminished further by excess low quality treats such as corn or scratch.

Since you are feeding a lower protein, you could feed that level for a longer period of time... meaning no reason to switch at 6-7 weeks old.

Energy, otherwise known as calories... comes from only 3 sources... fat, carbohydrates including fiber, and protein.

Most often I feed my whole flock a 20% protein "flock raiser" diet and offer oyster shell free choice on the side for layers, in addition to free range pasture.

Best wishes! :)
