Feel like giving up on chickens

I'm so sorry that you are having such a difficult time. I think we've all felt that way on occasion to a degree.
I lost a lavender orpington that was my favorite to a hawk last spring because I went in the house for a few minutes. I was so depressed, she wasn't even a year old. One of my older hens actually jumped up in my lap that afternoon. It was so odd as she had never been friendly before and never has been again. Anyway it made me concerned for the remaining flock. I had to go on keeping them because I had my old girls and 11 new chicks to think about. It really did get better with time.
I hope that your remaining flock members recover. Please cry on our shoulders any time you need friends.

Hey all,

I started out w/ 15 chickens. I'm down to 4 now, with one being very sick and lethargic. We have done everything we can to help her out, but after losing 2 very special chickens this last week alone to different reasons, I feel like throwing in the towel on raising chickens. The emotional stress on watching chickens die and not being able to do anything about it is really wearing. Has anyone else felt this way when starting out w/ raising chickens?
Not chicken but with rabbits..we breed them to sell...we had a horrible month in June...the garden flooded..were farmers...our beloved dog died..then the rabbits got worms and we lost 15. We felt like we were in a black whole...but you just have keep going..do it for thes you do have..that sick one needs YOU to step up and care for her..I know it’s a lot..but in farming..we don’t get to schedule things..animals make the rules...each day is a new challenge after it’s done you say..I did THAT! Now tomorrow I can do more..and that spirit will come back..so..take today to regroup..rest..and head into tomorrow with fresh eyes..how can I help these three...feel glad you do still have those gals. Then help your sick hen get better...ask everyone on here..they know a ton...you can rally..rest est a bit,,sleep and you’ll be bright eyed tomorrow! Best of luck. I’ll be praying for ya..please get back on here to let me know how things turned out!
