Feeling Yuckie, not sure what's wrong

Is her comb still purple? This can indicate several things, can be hormonal or circulatory issues specifically heart related. What exactly are her symptoms, how is her poop,is she eating/drinking? Have you checked her crop for either an impact or sour crop? have you checked her over for lice/mites? I read that you have already wormed her.

Her comb is still purple on the tips...but i think it might be getting a little better. She is pooping and there is no blood or anything strange or terrible smelling...its hard to tell...her vent was all poop caked today. She is eating and drinking a little...how much do chickens drink in a day anyway? I put the wazine worm meds in the water but she didn't drink it all so doesn't that mean she didn't get the whole dose? I put the meds in a second day but the directions say to do that after 30 days. I'm all confused. Her crop is soft...what is a sour crop? She seems generally clean...feathers look great and we didn't see any lice...i don't know what mites look like. The very tips of her tail feathers are a little ragged but thats it. She only seems listless. Walks slowly. Easy to pick up. And she feels skinny. I saw one of the other chickens opening her mouth real wide like i saw this one do last week. We put worm meds in all their water. And electrolytes/vitamins. Thanks everyone who is trying to help me with advice. Should I take her to a chicken vet?

This mornings update.

Cranky at the front of the cage and for Buffy BooBoo this means she is feeling herself again.

I did give her penicillin in her water this morning but I'm not sure she needs it. I could not find Corid at any stores near me so I will have to buy it online to have on hand. I did give the whole flock a dose of Valbazin yesterday and will repeat in 10 days.

She is eating scrambled eggs and some scratch she would not eat her usual treat with all the good stuff in it so she hasn't had any oil of oregano for 4 days, mean while the other birds LOVE IT.

I am waiting to see if she has a better apatite today and more normal poop and if so I will put her back with the other hens.

Can I have the stool tested for coccidiosis? and is Corid the only thing that can fix it? I'm getting conflicting responses to Pen v/Corid.

As far as the Oil of Oregano, my chickens love it, I used it consistently all last winter in very small doses as a prophylactic immune booster and have seen no bad side effects. I myself take it every day because I work in a public school with all kinds of germs. Oil of Oregano has anti inflammatory, anti fungal and anti septic properties.

Anyone have a web site that tells about all the antibiotics and what they do cover?

I'm just happy she is getting better

FYI - My sick hen never got pail in the comb... her body language and apitite is what clued me in she was sick.

Here is a medicine chart for your use. I don't know how accurate it is, but you can always Google the med you are wanting to use. Corid is the best med for coccidiosis. Others like sulfadimethoxine and Sulmet work on fewer strains, and sulmet is very hard on their kidneys. Amprollium is the generic name for Corid. It is usually in the cattles meds shelf in the feedstores--liquid and powder versions.

Hi. I think I would take her off the oil of oregano for a bit and see what happens. I haven't found any data yet if oil of oregano can build in their system to a toxic level.
