I have a last years hatch RIR who has always been a happy healthy girl. She usually gets in the laying boxes so I assume she was laying eggs just fine.....Yesterday I noticed her feathers under her vent were nasty. I cleaned them off as best as I could. It looked like liquid poo, It was also cold so I didn't think anything about her being fluffed up. Well tonight when I went out to pick up eggs she is fluffed up and moving slow. (it was much warmer tonight) Her behind is a mess again and now it looks like a yellow yolk color....I picked her up and felt around...It feels like she has several Hard eggs inside of her. I hate for her to be sick..... Is she egg bound? What can I do for her....I have seen but could not find where people have done surgery on the birds to try to save them...I do not think I can do that...I do not have a vet around that handles chickens.
She is a really sweet girl and if she is in pain I do not want her to become a target for the other birds.
Thank you for your help.
