Yep, I would say "Vicks Salve" will work! Dap a little of that Vicks under their chin and on the comb too. Helps them to breathe easier if they have a cold. Add "Olive Oil to that list of leg oils. Any other thoughts on this? I like new ideas!

I have heard and used Vet Rx for any leg problems. The alcohol and champhor are a mites worst enemy. People have told me to put the Vet Rx on twice a day for 2 days, then use a vasoline product for 3 more days. It will not hurt, even if it is not leg mites.

I use Emu Oil on my birds' legs in the winter to help keep them from drying out and so forth. Emu Oil is better for the skin than vitamin E and it has natural healing properties, I use it in all my homemade bath and soap products.

It soaks in nicely and it will not harm them if they should taste it. Mine never bother it.

This is just what I do.

Since I have so many birds and care for my dad. I can't salve up each individual bird. Never seemed to last long and the birds were reinfected again. I use Ivermectin and kill the mites from the inside out. I hatch them with no ill effects. I have very healthy strong birds.

I haven't had any more problems with lice, mites etc.

I use Vicks on birds with respiratory problems (Under the wing, neck and a bit on the comb) I have made a cage covered with thick cloth in my sick bay with a Vicks vapor plug. This works wonders AND prescribed by my vet for a hen with allergies! (pet bird)lol
