We have 2 khaki campbells, about 8wks old.
We just noticed that the female (or at least we think she is) now has a white patch on her breast. It doesnt have feathers but is sort of fuzzy.
Is this something to be concerned about?

Is it on the top or middle of the breast? Where are the birds from?

right in the middle on the mid-lower part of the breast. It doesn't look unhealthy or anything except that it's a white patch. We got the ducks from our local feed store but they were shipped to them from the lower 48 as well (somewhere in the midwest).

Also, on a completely different note, they seem to like to attack our dog. It's more amusing than anything but is this typical duck behavior?

Is she pulling feathers out of her breast, or is her brooder mate doing that? Zehn used to have the annoying habit of grabbing a pinch of breast feathers from her brooder mates. How much space do they have? Sometimes crowding can increase such behaviors.

they free range during the daytime but their coop is about 12 square feet.
I haven't noticed her or the male duck plucking the feathers out except for when they get out of the water (we have a kiddie pool for them) and start grooming themselves.

Well they certainly don't sound like they are crowded. . . . Hmmm. . . . Can you take a close look to see if perhaps something is irritating that spot on her chest?

It doesn't look like it. Just fuzzy white. I will certainly observe in the next few days though.
Thank you!
