Hi All duck owners! We are first time duck owners with 4 males and 1 female! Sassy is her name. We decided to let her raise some babies so she started a nest right outside the barn in a patch of irises. It's a fairly high traffic area but ahe continued to lay her eggs there.
Well, this past Thursday (it's now Sunday) she started full time sitting on the nest with about 8 to 9 eggs. Saturday morning we woke up and she and all her eggs are gone. The boys are still here and keep looking into the nest ahe was in. No sign of predators, so I'm guessing she moved all the eggs to a better spot. Is this possible and/or normal?? I'm trying not to worry thanks for any help!

Ducks don't have the capability to move their eggs long distances. Total truth, she probably was taken by something :(

Thank you everyone! I first thought a predator, but the nest was nice and neat with no sign of any struggle. And the dried leaves she was nesting with looked "pushed" out of the nest. And I'm guessing it would take a pretty large snake or something to eat all 9 eggs in one sitting? We have some very tall grass about 50 feet away so I'm hoping she's in there!
This is Angelo looking into the old nest...
