I bought some wonderful and healthy ducklings from a great BYC'er Promiseland5. It looks like and sounds like 8 of the 10 or maybe 9 of the ten are female.

In order to have the most fertile eggs and babies, do I need to have a one to one ratio ....mated pairs or is it like chickens and if so....

Would 2 drakes keep 8 females fertile?

Thanks and have a blessed day

I have one drake with 4 girls and all the eggs are fertile! He does a super job. Others may have even more ducks to one drake and do just fine as well.

Good luck with your new duckies!

Good sounds like ducks are more decent about the act.
Roosters are so violent and viciously attack hens. Makes me not want to keep any roosters at all! DH wants them so that is the only reason I kept one rooster.

Dixy, not all roosters are jerks. You need to eat the mean one and get a nice one
