Hello, All. I have three Royal Purple Guineas. The female squawks a great deal. When I'm outside with them, I see her walk around making her very loud two-beat sound. These are my first Guineas, they will be one year old in March. The squawk does not seem to be a happy sound, but I can't figure what she might be upset about. Is it a regular thing she is doing and I can stop worrying about it? Or is there something I might do to soothe her? It has been quite cold, with snow on the ground. But she's been doing this before the cold. I would appreciate any insight or advice y'all could offer. Thank you.

She is squawking right now and it's 11:40 PM. I hope nothing is wrong! I cannot see anything amiss.

I have 30 guineas right now. Hatched last summer and my plan is to sell 20 of them soon. Most are females and the squawking is non-stop in the group. IMO this is what they do and nothing wrong with yours. I would suggest that you increase the size of your flock to 10 including some males.
Thank you so much for replying! You answered exactly what I wanted to be sure of. That this is regular behavior and I am not ignoring a suffering bird. I think she has calmed down some. I was to have 6 Guineas, but two died quickly after arrival, and one was caught by a dog when it escaped from the young group outside the fencing. I have ducks in my wee flock as well. Again, thank you for you help & advice. Sincerely, Jacki
