Female quail not thriving and stopped laying

I would give her a small dish of the calcium citrate. She will eat it on her own and is unlikely to overeat on it. Do that for a couple of days then switch over to the oyster shell.

If she's huddling under the light, then she's cold. It's okay if most of their cage is a bit cold for them as long as you make sure that she has a corner where she is at a comfortable temperature.

The mineral grit is unlikely to do any harm. If they eat some of it it will just serve as grit in their crops and help them digest their food. My buttons have plain old garden dirt as bedding.

A sad update

Yesterday night the male ( Nino) attacked the female (Nina ) think because she did not want to mate, he was chasing her and pecking at her neck. I stopped them and scolded him and they went to sleep.

Today I wake up to a VERY weak Nina, she barely stand up and when I offered a mealworm she came to eat it but wasn’t able to kill it and she just left it there which is shocking for her.

I decided to seperate them for now, Hoping I did the right thing.

Nino is calling her nonstop which is cute but could u just treat her nicely I guess?

Do you guys have any advice for Nina? She’s seems also to be freezing I don’t know if I can put a blanket maybe in there ?

Ps: she did not eat the citrus, I hope she will get the oysters today when they arrive

Mineral grit as bedding is just fine - in fact it may improve their health - as in their natural habitat, they sleep on the ground with occasionally a scrape in the ground surrounded by dried grasses. They nest that way too in nature.
King quail - which is what you have - are an Australian native.
19C is an average Autumn day here.
But she looks miserable - heat is good for sick birds, so if you are able to put the temperature up a few degrees for a couple of days, that could not hurt.
I would be feeding her crushed boiled hen egg shells. These will get her calcium levels up. If she layed a soft shelled egg then it would appear she has a bit of a lack of calcium there.
My King quail get green seeding grasses at least weekly - just grow some small bird seed to provide this. I also feed the small bird seed to them.
As I have been breeding King quail this way for 30+ years it seems to work.
