Female quails going for males eyes

I need help new to quails gad my first few batches off them then I took the males out to rest the females then I put the males back in I have Italians and Japanese in the same pen 5 males to 26 females and for some reason the females are going for the eyes on the Italians but not the one japenesse male so I removed him and let the Italians heal up and put them back in today with out the Japanese and the females have gone for all the four lads eyes so I don’t know what’s happening the picture is my worst lad and this was after only 2 hours

How big is the area they're in? That could be the issue. I wonder if it would be better to separate the flock up? So it would be 1 males to 6ish females and separate from any other boys? If you're certain it was the ladies picking on the boys maybe it's their way of choosing and trying to drive the other male away?

They have plenty of room and yeah I might have to separate them up in case there is too much goinf on for them all
