Hello everyone

I just found out that my chickens have worms so I went and got some fenbendazole horse paste and I need to know what the dosage is per chicken since I don't want to screw up.

Thanks!!

On Dec 12 you had a 3 page thread about your chickens having worms.
Dosing was given there, but just in case you don't remember or can't find it.
Here it is again:

Fenbendazole (Safeguard) dose is 0.25ml per pound of weigh give orally once a day for 5 days to treat most worms that chickens have except for Tapeworms.

Fenbendazole (Safeguard) dose is 0.25ml per pound of weigh give orally once, then repeated in 10 days to treat Roundworms only.

The photo in your other thread was of roundworms, but I highly recommend that you dose your birds for 5 days in a row.

Ok, it's just because I got a tube of horse paste that said it would treat a 1100 pound horse and I'm almost out and I only have 15 chickens that isn't a lot of weight if you do the math they're only 4 lbs each why is that?

Because a chicken is not a horse.

Fenbendazole dosing for a chicken is 10-50mg/kg. Dosing at 50mg/kg is 0.23ml per pound of weight. Rounding up to 0.25ml for easier measurment.

Fenbendazole dosing for a horse is 5mg/kg.

Wrmclear is what I use for roundworm, tapeworm and eye worm in my chickens. Its a natural homeopathic remedy that helps them pass worms! I prefer using it in January! That way the worms and eggs die from exposure to cold once they're passed! Best part is you only treat their water and do not have to catch the chickens and apply it in their mouth directly (like other products!) I try to avoid treating my animals directly if possible to avoid stress (esp the chickens) I also avoid giving any of my animals chemicals if possible. There is no egg withdrawal while using this product so you can still eat their eggs! That's a good thing because you use it for 14 days. I add diatomaceous earth to my chickens dust bath to help kill fleas, mites and other parasites.I don't have a wood stove but if I did I would add wood ashes to their dust baths too because it also kills mites and other parasites.I like to mix diatomaceous earth with my chicken feed and cat and dog food too because it kill fleas and worms simply by eating it .Its awesome stuff!(use a mask if you stir it up!) You can find all of these products (except wood ashes lol) at Chewy https://www.chewy.com
