While in the process of moving birds to new pens, one of my bratty little OEGB roos managed to escape. He didnt go very far, just to the next pen to get into a through- the- fence- chest bumping match with one of the silkies. Unfortunately, it was the ONLY Silkie I still have any hopes of being a girl.

I am hoping someone will come along and tell me something like "Yes, hens will chest bump and fight pushy, obnoxious roosters through a fence... while the 8 other roosters in her pen completely ignore the outsider".

She still looks like a girl... no streamers yet, and no big comb or wattles... she is 19 weeks old. [IMG]

Pullets DO chest bump. Often, when establishing the pecking order. Any new inductee to an area needs to be put into his/her proper place.
