Something to ponder since you said you saw rabbits... Rabbits breed like well rabbits, there is some real hard blunt truth to that statement...
Now consider looking at a hypothetical (no predator culling) breeding scenario as outlined here... http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/scary.html or cut to the Cliff notes, starting with one pregnant female rabbit if left unchecked and allowed to breed with no predators or culling could statistically produce 184,597,433,860 rabbits in 7 years time...
So now riddle yourself this, why are there not billions upon billions of rabbits in your neighborhood, or even hundreds/thousands in your yard? The answer is there are predators keeping them in check
