Let me preface this by saying I have never built anything of this magnitude before. Something possessed me to build this rather large coop.. maybe the fact that I have 8 hens tight on space with another 8 little chickies in the brooder with no where to put them. I designed the coop around the slope of the land and the materials I had on hand and what I could get as inexpensive as possible.
Platform built, still lacking crossbracing and boards hadn't been tacked down yet. It is about 8x10 with 2x6 and 2x4 joists. The floorboards are 6' dog eared fence pickets. The posts were hard to get square working around the tree roots, so one side of the coop is cantilevered by 2 feet.
Framing in. 6' walls and standard door opening for a free salvaged door.
Fence picket boards starting to go up:
Rafters in... Total 100% pain in the butt. I still don't think they are even. I should have measured the rafter ties to get those level. I will adjust those once the roof sheathing is in. Door is in and free salvaged window is in though!
Next up is getting the roof sheathing on. I also manage to pick up some free tar paper and shingles (unused and free (!) from a "get this junk out of my house" Facebook group post.)
I might try to find something to use as battens for a board and batten siding look. Can't wait until this is done though!
