Fencing Ideas?

Thanks, Sweet Basil. My plans are that I'll get the 3 Ft chicken wire, to give strength to the bottom to keep out 'possums, coons, and skunks. Then, later this spring, I'm gonna get some garden netting and add to the chicken wire, for height. Then I'll think about adding a roof to it. Thanks!, if anybody has anymore suggestions, just please, go ahead and add them!!

If you get a poultry net and suspend it you may not need to add to the 3' fence. You could use a tall pole in the middle or if you have a rope that you can tie from a tree to the coop (or someplace else that would keep the rope over your head) you could suspect the poultry net and have it come down to the fence.

The netting is hardly visible to the birds, it won't block their view or give them the feeling of being in a prison.

Amazon has 50' x 50' poultry netting (2 inches wide and stretchy) for about $65, smaller sizes are less.

This is good advice I got the 25x50mesh from amazon and it works very well you could secure it to a shorter fence if that's what you put up. Any chicken will likely get out of a 3 foot pen, and honestly if you plan on free ranging like you say then it is a bad idea to clip wings, they need their wings to get away from predators. Also chicken wire isn't good at keeping out predators at all its tooweak and coons can reach in and rip the birds head off

Yeah , I've already decided I wasn't going to clip their wings.

I'll check that out. What type of bushes could I plant in there for their safety?

I would plant evergreens such as yews, so that they have cover all year round. Of course they could also use these to gain height to fly out of the run.

I was able to capture a picture this morning of the hawk that watches my run.
Do you have a lot of chickens?

Opossums and Raccoons can climb right over fences! So hawks and owls are not the only thing you should worried about...a fence is only good for containing your chickens..not keeping predators out!

@Coupe . Yes, that is exactly what I want. I just want something to keep my chickens in, not keep predators out.

Does anybody else have any suggestions for fencing, runs, or bushes I could plant in my run?
