fermented feed stinks?

Can anyone tell me what can I ferment that don't stink? I've done layer pellets and the finisher and after a few days., it smells like vomit and crap. I'm stirring twice a day and have an inch or so above the feed.I've tried with and without vinegar. I'm wanting to continue to do this inside with winter coming up and I don't have anywhere to put it where we won't smell it. I can deal with a sweet, sour smell but not what I'm smelling now. Thanks.

I've had the same problem and suspect it's related to temperature. Thinking of going to sprouting.

You're supposed to ferment oats mostly. Layer pellets will dissolve and not really provide anything

Oh. Maybe I was reading it wrong. ? I thought that I seen where u could ferment anything. Does the oats smell better?

They're supposed to I believe. But really and truly just about anything you ferment is gonna have a smell to it ( I believe its because of yeast but not really sure)

Laying pellets can be fermented. If your FF really stinks, try fermenting for fewer days. Any poultry feed can be fermented, crumbles, pellets, scratch feed, bird seed, they can all be fermented.

Thanks enola I thought that I read it right. I understand that it's all going to have a smell but mine smelt like vomit. I was stirring at least twice a day and taking out most of the feed and adding back water and feed. I do the 3container system. It just smells so terrible that I'd like to find something else that's not as bad.

I ferment Scratch and Peck layer feed and it does have a smell to it but not bad in my opinion. I think that since the feed is more of a complete grain instead of ground up it helps. Try it out and see if you like it better. I am not sure if you have Scratch and Peck feed around where you live. Thanks lossy. I will give this a try next time. Is this ok to feed to laying hens?
