Now that you've got a start on fermenting you may want to make life easier for yourself by implementing a thicker mix...that soup will be difficult to strain or feed.

I am going to really have to pace myself. I have been feeding two or three times a day and adding Boss also. They are getting BIG. I need to sit down and figure out how much they really need. Spoiling them. At least 10 cups daily for my 16. Going outside tomorrow so I'll be working on it. I have a runt the male white rock that is run over and kept away from the food. He just needs extra space to eat on his own.![]()

I think I've posted my FAQ at least 4 or 5 times just today. I need to check and see if I included the link to the study you shared on fermentation levels days 1,2, and 3. Someone made the comment that it didn't matter if you fed it pretty much right away- it was fermented and it just depends on personal method...... :bang
I've been sharing it too....everyone is mighty grateful to you for putting this page together and one requested it become a sticky link. I don't know if they do that here on BYC but it sure would simplify things if they did.

That is looking really good! You are ready to feed out of it. I started with mine quite soupy like yours and had to strain for several minutes to feed. As the months have gone by I keep mine much drier, more like grout. It is still just as sour and fermented but is easier to manage.
Ok, so how many days does it usually take for chicks to start eating FF? Mine are going on 2 days and haven't hardly touched it.... They were chirping so loud this morning, I put a few oats on top and they picked at those.... I know I have to do this but it's sooo hard....
