FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Complaining about people complaining seems a bit odd to me... Just saying... Regardless of the explanation, it's still complaining and you'd be better served gleening what is good from the thread and ignoring anything your are unhappy about... Seriously...

You're right...I shouldn't be complaining. It just leads to more discontent in one's life. Sometimes I forget that and vent just like anyone else out there when I'm tired or feel like people just take and take. Thank you for reminding me of that! I had written a scathing assessment of YOUR complaining but realized I was being just as hypocritical as you were by complaining about your complaining about my complaining.

I'll try to do better. I should be thankful I even have the eyesight and the cognitive ability to even participate in a discussion about chickens. You guys keep me on my toes about it, will you? Each time I get tired and start to complain, remind me of all my blessings and how trivial all of this really, truly is in the broad scheme of life.

I do contribute when I have something to contribute. And if you are only doing it for appreciation then you are wasting your time. You do not help your cause. I have read your complaints not just this time but on a regular basis. Like I said no one is twisting your arm and making you answer the same questions over and over. You talk bad about people when you know nothing about them and you expect them to grovel at your feet. And those that do grovel you use to try to make those that don't feel bad. You consistently are negative and helping people should be a positive experience. This was my first time in a year to complain about your poor attitudes. It is certainly not your second or even third or fourth time. I felt I had to say something and will not again. I will just contribute if I need to and can to help people learn how to feed fermented feed to make their chickens healthy and vigorous. Maybe start a new thread Fermented Feed, Happy People Feeding Happy Chickens. You probably have some legitimate complaints but reading them over and over again isn't fun either. Especially when I was new and you talked about me like I wouldn't know you were talking about me but not to me. Just plain rude.

Hello everyone, and thanks for all the great info. I haven't read the whole thread so this may have been asked before.
Has anyone used DDG,s (dried distillers grain) in there FF mix. I can get wheat or corn DDG,s free so thought it would help cut costs.

It's really concentrated on the protein, so you'd have to just add a little to each ration. Lucky you to have DGs! Most farmers feeding the DGs will use only as a portion of the regular feed ration due to the richness of the stuff. It was because of searching out a way to get some of the benefits of DG that I did research into FF in the first place, as I heard about folks getting them for free and my local distilleries had already allocated their grains to other people.

I'd probably cut it with a cheaper, lower protein whole grain so you won't have to store it and feed it out slowly, and can still keep your protein to a healthy percentage.

Here's a site that details the nutritional value of different kinds of feeds for animals and it can help you find something to cut the richness of it: http://www.feedipedia.org/ .

Thanks for the link to a bunch more info. Did a quick read and found where they say up to 15% of wheat DDG for poultry. Will start with 10% to be on the safe side, 40% rolled barley, 30% whole wheat and 20% of layer crumbles. The rolled barley is free also so i should be able to produce some good cheep eggs. Thanks again Bee.

Bee- one of the things I have appreciated most in your posts is the clarity from a no-nonsense, practical approach.

I guess though like most of our character traits, sometimes our good ones can have a little downside.

You have been a blessing to many of us (and most of all our chickens!). We're lucky to have you keep posting on this site!

Thank you for your kind words.

I need a time out until I can be nice again.

I neither need to be babied or am overly sensitive. And if you are looking for chips on shoulders then look in the mirror. There is straight forward and there is rude and hateful. You are hateful. I'm used to that with my son with aspergers so maybe it's normal for you too. But I try to teach him to be nice to people just likes he wants people to be nice to him. This will definitely be my last post on this thread as I will no longer follow it. So you can proceed to say whatever will make you feel better about yourself.
