FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Interesting...not being a phone user I didn't know that was possible. I wonder if that's where the rambling posts with no punctuation or editing that I so often see on this forum get composed and posted?
that's funny, my posts do ramble :) but I also put in the punctuation. The problem I have is I don't always double check what I dictate and Siri doesn't always get it right. So I'm sure people wonder what the heck I am doing.

Wasn't speaking of you........Even typers on laptops should proofread and edit for clarity, typos and autocorrect errors.
I agree. Sometimes I kick myself when I go back and read what I posted. Want to hide under a rock. Oh well. I think people do have to realize that when they dictate they have to say the punctuation. Otherwise you get one very long run-on sentence.
At first my chickens did not like fermented or even wet feed but now they seem to. I have been feeding it just wet for the last week. This weekend I will start another fermented batch.

Quote: Can you edit your post after posting on the phone app?
I make a ton of typos and often miss them when proofreading, so edit frequently after posting.

ETA: or edit to add a thought, haha!...apologies to fermenters for the thread drift. :)

Ok so finally located the aquarium heater in storage and I remembered now that the heater had a short in it, so won't be trying my fermenting experiment outside.

Can you place the feed container in a larger container and mount a light bulb under the feed container?

If you get another heater and still want to try, first put your FF five gallon bucket in a trash can or 16 gallon muck bucket, fill the larger bucket up to the level of the feed in the five gallon bucket. Then put the heater in the water bath, set the thermostat at 75° and cover the larger bucket to reduce evaporation.

Titanium is still metal. I wouldn't use it. Buttermilk is supposed to help get the fermentation started. And my chickens absolutely love buttermilk. If you have heat in your chicken coop then put it in there. You could put a heat lamp above it. Or set it up in the garage with a heat lamp over it. One bucket won't take up too much space. Just drill some holes in the lid.

Leigti,
Titanium is used to make bone joints, the real issue is there is not enough liquid circulation to dissipate the heat the unit will produce.
