FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

Quote: Speaking of "bad boys"....I think they are responsible for the teen girls in my flock all coming down with CRD at the same time. The stress wore down their immune systems. And the fact that I bought a Serama chicken that was sick, but the symptoms didn't show up til after 3 weeks, by then I thought I was safe to let her be near the rest of my chickens. Because she is so little and the boys jumped her just the same, I always kept her with the bantams in another coop, but still in the same yard. She began with what I thought was gapeworm and progressed to some respiratory disease that now 7 of my flock have. None of the big girls is affected. I won't cull. I have given them all injections of Tylan 5 for the past two days and have lincomycin-spectinomycin in their water. But I think I am going to have to tube feed 3 of them that aren't eating if I am going to save them. (I realize it could be mycoplasma and I am not hatching my own chicks again. They are fine for egg laying.) Any good advice would be much appreciated. : (

All of my flock is sneezing... I did Tylan50 but they are still sneezing.... Now runny noses... I thought it was MG but I'm new to this and not all the symptoms match... My flock will be closed... I'm not culling unless they get worse.... They were out playing and chasing bugs today like nothing's wrong... Their poo is fine... I'm tired of stressing over this!! They are doing well eating their FF now that I have it right, so I'll continue that and the AVC and VetRx and see.... Sorry about your flock!!

I think she could edit the original post and paste the link in if she wanted to. I love this thread, though, and would hate to have it closed, personally.

BYC doesn't allow people to infinitely edit their own posts. After a while the posts are locked. I'm pretty sure this question has been put to the owner of BYC. But no, BK can't edit the first post in this thread.

I would also hate to see this thread closed.

Huh. Now that I think about it, wasn't it like a few days or around there? Outside of a sticky (sp?) I'm not sure what else, unless someone wants to start another thread. But then there will be all the same questions, and this one has tons of great info, imo.

Close the thread????? Why in the world would we close the thread?????

Two plus years of work on a thread and folks want to close it?

Here's a suggestion....go out there, start an informative thread, contribute to it for a couple of years, fight off all the trolls, repeat the same info ad nauseum for all the newbies and those who don't want to have to read, search for and paste pertinent links to the thread, keep a loose record of all the feedback so you can repeat for newbies all the benefits folks have reported from using the information, and keep it going as long as possible so that it stays popped up in the "Recent Discussions" portion of the forum so that people can find it.....

...then close it down. Yeah...that's a great culmination of all that effort. Sure...close it down. Just so folks won't have to read the big bad thread.

Gee, if we work real hard we can just start a new thread on the same topic every 20 pages so that we can keep the attention span of the children and they won't have to look hard to find the information therein. Of course, it would be hard to find just which 20 page thread on that topic had the pertinent info one is looking for, but so what? It's only 20 pages per section, so it will be easy to skim.....

Close it down??????

Might as well if this is all that it comes down to...work done for those who don't appreciate it any more than to suggest it be closed down so they can have shorter threads. Only problem with that, who is going to start, maintain and build up these shorter, more efficient threads for the masses?

It won't be me. I hope it's one of the folks who want to close down the big threads because I'd like to see them do a better thread. I'm all eager to learn how to keep a thread from getting big~ while still holding interesting, informative and useful dialogue.

I don't want this thread closed and neither does the vast majority of us. It's filled with golden nuggets.
Say, who is the moron that wants to close the thread? I don't get it, what would be the point? Are they nuts? This is an encyclopedia of knowledge that is very valuable! Some people I just can't understand, they are too ignorant! Sorry Bee, try not to take it personal, consider the source and know that the fool is all alone in his idea; the rest of us want no part of it.

why is it ? that those that don't contribute anything but negative comments , seem to want to close down threads that provide meaningful, hard earned experience for the benefits of all BYCer's new or old !

r they just trolls or what?

maybe they just post whatever pops into their head, so as to post "something "to see their post count climb

Is ok to add a few drops of Poly Vi Sol vitamins to FF after it's dished out? Also what is the difference in rolled oats you see in TSC vs oatmeal oats? Which one should be added to FF?
