FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

I started my 12 day olds chicks on FF yesterday!!!
I am so excited...they LOVED it!

I just used the starter crumbles, water and ACV....let it it over night and feed them it this morning.

I am investing in a bucket method soon...right now I am just using some mason jars.
I got a couple buckets free from my grocery store, the bakery section has smaller buckets like one or 2 gallons worth. The 5 gallon bucket was way too big for me.

thanks...i'll ask my grocery store today.

Well, unless you have limited space to store things I would think the 5-gallon buckets would be good for stirring, expansion/foaming, etc.,. You don't necessarily have to do a whole bucketful, just what you need. But, free is good, whatever the size! ;)

I was rushing through the grocery store , trying to get in and out before the rain hit and I totally forgot to ask for a bucket. I'll try again tomorrow. Lol

I got great buckets, probably 3 gallons so a little more manageable, from the bulk food store. They used to have peanut butter in them.

Oddly enough, Lowe's has food grade buckets--both 5 gal and 2 gal. They were in the same aisle as the cleaners etc. with all the other buckets. Lids too. Can't beat free, but covenience counts too. :)

I finally started trying to ferment my chicken feed, and I'm having some problems. I'm trying to ferment crumbles, and it seems like they totally dissolve in the water... then either I'm ending up with a very liquidy feed, and there's no way to strain it very well because it's pretty much totally dissolved, or I'm not putting enough water, and then I end up with mold. Ugh! What can I do?
