Can I ferment starter feed? I want to add probiotics to my 8-12wk old babies food.
I know it takes some time and effort, but I am willing to put in the work.
Any advice?

Yes you can.
& once you get into the rhythm of it it’s not really any more work or effort - but there’s plenty of benefit!
Set your ferment going & in a few days it will be the new normal. Just avoid any feeds with animal or fish derived proteins.

In this warm weather, feed will ferment overnight. I add a dash of AC vinegar, water, and mix it up. By morning it has a pleasant yeasty smell. If I let it set longer, I think it gets too 'sharp'and they don't like it as much.

I've heard you shouldn't ferment medicated starter, so if that's what you're feeding, might want to look into that more as I don't know if it's true or not.

Just avoid any feeds with animal or fish derived proteins.

My fermented feed has fish protein, still works fine. Any funkiness is from the heat making everything go into overdrive, and not the fish.
